Alexander Landerman’s Bunting Series

This animal-focused series has less to do with animal rights and is more an homage to my childhood in central Wisconsin. My father was a trapper and my mother would wrap me up in sheepskin and tuck me into a bag so he could carry me into the woods with him when he went to check his trap lines.

The wood type was printed on a Vandercook 325G proofing press. These animal-focused illustrations are done on Rives BFK 280 using Sumi ink. This work has been shown in multiple galleries and remains one of my favorite series.

The text for these animal-focused artworks comes from the Indiana University Letterpress Studio or Type Shop wood type collection. As design faculty I manage this collection and repair our Vandercook printing presses.
