Alexander Landerman’s Myth Series

There are a number of family stories that have stuck with me throughout my life. These animal-focused illustrations are my attempt at documenting and unraveling these stores. Some remain complete mysteries while others have evolved in the telling but all remain important to my understanding of where I come from.

These animal-focused illustrations are done on Rives BFK using Sumi ink and powdered graphite. The sheet size is 22” x 30” but many have been torn down to a smaller size. This series has been show in a number of galleries and none of these artworks are still available for sale.

Ava May

So much of both the Myth and Lore series was done with this little dog at my side. She was the best of friends and I love her dearly.

This photo comes from a day when she ran off to find a stick for fetch and brought back this axe. I’m still unsure where it came from.
